Haha I lived in Beijing for a year. Right down the road from Tiananmen Square. Same shit--every damn day. There must be thousands of pictures of me on phones in China. Not as many as my friend who lived me though. He was a large black man. Never had anyone mention 1989 though. Oh--my friend who was there who also lived with us (we lived in a hostel for 9 of those months) was once in the square and started talking about it, a random passerby leaned in, grabbed him and told him to be quiet then showed inside his coat there was a badge. I don't know if it's true but my friend said a lot of those walking around are undercover police and that its the most policed area by square foot in the world because activists are always running in and throwing fliers. Also a bomb went off there when I was living nearby--a small one, someone drove onto it. Big tarps came up around it for a few hours, then came down and it reopened. No one said shit. Freaky place.
